About Summit Family Medicine
Our highly qualified medical providers are Board Certified Family Medicine Physicians and a highly experienced certified Physician Assistants. Our physicians are also members of the American Academy of Family Physicians, the doctors who 'specialize in you.' Our group provides 'primary care' acute and preventative services to patients of all ages.
Our four office suites are staffed by the following providers (with the noted exceptions):
- 101- James Pennington MD and Nic Buser MD (closed Tuesday a.m.)
- 102- James Brauer MD and Chardonnay Vance MD PhD (closed Monday, Wednesday p.m. and most Friday p.ms)
- 103- Laura Starrett MD and Richard Starrett MD (closed Thursday p.m.)
- 104- Robert Fiske, PA-C and Deana Dahl, FNP (closed Fridays)

We are in the office Monday through Friday. A provider from our clinic is available on-call for emergencies at all times. If you are our patient and are having a health problem that you feel needs to be addressed urgently, please contact your medical provider's office via telephone. If your personal provider is not available to assist you, you will be put in touch with our physician on-call.
We will provide significant discounts for patients paying cash at the time of service. We participate with most health plans, including Medicare and Oregon Health Plan. We have active staff privileges at Providence Hood River Memorial Hospital for patients requiring inpatient care. Dr. Vance provides prenatal and hospital based OB care.

For New Patients
We are not accepting new patients for Worker's Compensation claims or pain medication management. (We provide these services, as appropriate, for our established patients). If you would like to establish with us as a new patient please submit a request via the link found under the 'Forms' tab at the top of this page, or give us a call. We will do our best to accommodate your request.

This system serves as a secure method for sharing information with you about your healthcare and our practice. Any information you access about your medical care on this portal is completely secure, accessible to you alone through your personal password protected account. Your physician will be able to communicate results, advice and follow up recommendations, as well as provide a summary of your health record on your request.
Please be aware that while this space is accessed by you through your preferred e-mail account, it is NOT an e-mail communication system. This secure web portal is used to securely send you information and give you convenient access to some of your medical information. You may send non-urgent messages for our staff to review. However, DO NOT use this system to make requests for care or to obtain medical advice or treatment, unless explicitly directed to do so BY YOUR PHYSICIAN OR PROVIDER. For all other medical care issues, we recommend that you please continue to work directly with our staff and physicians by phone and in person.
